Om even in het 'shoegaze gebeuren' te blijven, nog een band die ons onlangs contacteerde. Voor wie wat moeite doet ons te contacteren, doen wij ook graag wat moeite en beluisteren we op z'n minst wat we doorgestuurd krijgen. Komt het op één of andere manier bij iemand van ons binnen, dan delen we dit graag met de wereld. Gazers is een nummer dat aan een rotvaart vooruit scheurt: shoegaze/dreampop op speed dus. Natuurlijk ook hier de zachtere passages, de nodige galm op de gitaren, al klinken die wel erg 'wave/post punk' en is de stem minder ijl dan we in het genre gewoon zijn. Beetje afwisseling mag er zijn, niet? De band is trouwens 'Italiaans/Belgisch', al kan ik niet meteen de Belgische 'connectie' ontdekken. (nvdr: ondertussen weten we dat het om Gioia Podestà gaat.)

You, Nothing. are a young and very close-knit quartet that it is carving out a respectable space in the current Italian underground scene, with sounds that oscillate between shoegaze, dream pop and post punk. A sound that takes us back to the glories of the noisy Italian east coast of Be Forest and Soviet Soviet, but with a notable pop taste for melodies and an almost punk-like guitar aggression, which can recall the impetuousness of heavyweights such as Buzzcocks and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
“The songs have different shades, ranging from idyllic soundscapes to wild racing. Surely it is a record born of the mixture of genres we listen to, all however similar, shoegaze, dream pop, emo, post-punk. The themes of the lyrics are derived directly from our personal experiences, in particular from that of Gioia, which are evoked starting from the music”
Anticipated by the beautiful singles "Waves", "Reflectie" and "Gazers", the debut
album will be available starting May 7 in CD format and in digital download.
