Toch wel bizar om dit onder de categorie 'folk, blues, country' terug te vinden. Ik hoor eerst een diepe cello (contrabas?) met kille pianoaanslagen, zachte drumbrushes,, een kabbelende basgitaar en die intrigerende, wat masculinen, stem van Maya Damaris. Er komen violen bij, de sound wordt voller en leunt eerder aan bij licht gothic aandoende dark pop. Verrassend zijn later de synths die heel even alles richting trance lijken te trekken. Héél even maar. Omschrijf het zoals je wil, How Long? is alvast voor mij een boeiende kennismaking met dit talent. Check ook even beide andere songs die ik hieronder oplijst. Wax On Water is verdorie niet makkelijk te vatten.

Wax on Water is producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Maya Damaris, who wrote, performed and produced all the tracks on ‘The Drip’ album. The new addition to the band is London based guitarist Steven Blessing. The Drip is a collection of 16 songs that follows the release of Wax on Water’s 2018 debut album Procession, released through The Orchard.
