De Deense/Zweedse progressieve metalband VOLA heeft een nieuwe single en bijbehorende video uitgebracht voor het nummer These Black Claws. VOLA is voor mij één van de sterkste en meest consistente bands van dit moment. De band wordt met elke release beter en elke track die ze tot nu toe in aanloop naar de release van het album Witness hebben uitgebracht laat een VOLA in topvorm horen. Dat ze op dit album ook zullen weten te verrassen, maken ze duidelijk met het nummer These Black Claws feat. SHAHMEN en hier wordt ik toch wel erg enthousiast van.
Op These Blacks Claws is VOLA voor het eerst een samenwerking aangegaan, in dit geval met rapper SHAHMEN. De track draait om het onderwerp verslaving. Het resultaat is een prog en hiphop nummer die herkenbaar VOLA en tegelijkertijd vernieuwend voor de band is. Een heavy vibe, rap en melodieuze vocals, djenty riffs en zelfs invloeden die wat doen denken aan bands als Korn. Erg tof!
Witness staat gepland voor release op 21 mei via Mascot Label Group.

Info: Witness comes nearly three years after the release of Applause of a Distant Crowd, which saw the band go deep into the rabbit-hole, exploring society’s distractions from thoughtfulness and examined the way human relationships have evolved.The album will be released through Mascot Records on May 21.
The new album goes a step further, shining a light on the subject of failed relationships, on a societal scale — the friction between leaders and followers, caused by the misuse of power.
Witness will be released digitally, on CD, and on 3 different vinyl colors. It has been produced by the band and was mixed and mastered by the Grammy nominated Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, The Black Dahlia Murder, Amaranthe).
