Het lijkt wel een trip down memory lane, deze I Am No Moon van Sam Burton. Sam wie? Awel, frontman bij dreampop band The Circulars. The wie? Inderdaad, voor ons totaal onbekend, maar daar hopen we bij deze toch een héél klein beetje verandering in te brengen. Burton heeft net zijn solo debuut uitgebracht bij Tompkins Square, een label gekend voor reissues van o.a. folk en gospel. Zijn geluid doet denken aan Roy Orbison die iets meer americana gaat, met een iets dieper stemtimbre en dus een pak aangenamer om naar te luisteren voor mijn oren. Misschien vloek ik nu, maar ergens hoor ik ook een jonge John Denver en Glenn Campbell. Geef de man een kans en je zal niet teleurgesteld worden.

Find the video for “Nothing Touches Me.” (RR) The latest signing to the acclaimed Tompkins Square label, Sam Burton is a Palestinian American songwriter, born and raised in Salt Lake City. Discovering an old guitar in his parents house, Sam taught himself to play in secret, in the hours between finishing school and his parents getting home. After re-locating to Los Angeles, Sam began to pursue his music, sharing songs on self-released cassettes and becoming a member of Jess Williamson’s touring band. After meeting acclaimed producer Jarvis Tavernier, Sam set about recording his debut album, I Can Go With You, which will arrive into the world at the end of next month.
