Dat kan hij natuurlijk ook, Mr. Lamontagne, een poepsimpel liedje fantastisch laten klinken. Deze derde single zijn nieuwe album kan niet tippen aan beide voorgangers en toch luister ik er met plezier naar. Die stem natuurlijk, want de jankende pedal steel gitaar had hij gerust achterwege mogen laten. Misschien een indicatie dat we op Long Way Home 'the best' of both worlds zullen horen? Geef mij maar die door strijkers gedragen gitzwarte treurnis van zijn tweede single.

“I Wouldn’t Change A Thing” sees LaMontagne reflect on his journey traveled, accepting the downs with the ups. “If I had the chance to turn back time // I could tell you this my friend // I’d do it all over again // I’d get right back in the ring,” he sings. The track’s jangly guitar strums are complimented by the sorrowful wail of a slide guitar and an easy drumbeat.
