Genre-bending heavy alt-rock duo Nova Twins (guitarist/vocalist Amy Love and bassist Georgia South) have released their single “Antagonist” via Marshall Records. The monstrous new track - which received Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 with Clara Amfo last night - follows a break-out year for the band which saw a new record deal, lauded performances at Reading & Leeds Festivals, a feature on Bring Me The Horizon’s track “1x1” (from their UK #1 album Post Human - Survival Horror) and a Best Video Award for “Taxi” at the 2021 Heavy Music Awards. They have also graced the covers of NME and Premier Guitar, with NME calling their 2020 debut LP “a winning testament to the blurring boundaries between hip-hop and heavy rock”. “‘Antagonist’ is a defiant tune about self-belief; how you can summon the inner strength to be ready for whatever comes at you. It’s the army that surrounds you wherever you go. The entire song was pulled together during a jam session. Having spent all of lockdown writing tracks remotely over computers, it was really exciting to capture this spontaneous energy together in the studio, as well as the nuances coming from our boards. We made sure not to lose any of this magic on the record". - Nova Twins Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello recently told NME that Nova Twins, who are at the forefront of Black women upending heavier genres typically dominated by white men, are "an incredible band who deserve to be huge". Earlier this year, the duo curated a compilation called "Voices for the Unheard", which showcases rock and alternative artists of colour - proceeds went to "The Black Curriculum", an initiative to address the lack of Black British history in UK classrooms.
Nova Twins released their debut album "Who Are The Girls?" produced by Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian) in 2020 earning best of the year critical acclaim from publications such as Kerrang!, NME & Alternative Press, with profiles in Clash, Dork, Vice, The Face, among others. Lead singles “Devil’s Face”, “Vortex”, “Taxi” & “Play Fair” received extensive spins on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6 in the UK, with “Vortex” receiving plays on KCRW and KEXP in the US. They recently completed an arena tour with Bring Me The Horizon, including a sold-out show at London’s O2 Arena. Further UK support shows with Enter Shikari and Sleaford Mods will finish out 2021 and a UK and European headline run begins early February 2022. Previous festival bookings have included Reading & Leeds, Afropunk, Boomtown, Download & Hellfest.
