Er bestaat in mijn ogen nauwelijks mooiere muziek dan de epische, dromerige, progessive melodeath die Ne Obliviscaris maakt. U kunt zich dan ook mijn vreugdedans inbeelden die ik maakte toen de band aankondigde dat er een nieuw album aankomt, Exul getiteld, met releasedate 24.03.2023 via Seasons Of Mist èn dat ze bovendien op 14.05.2023 langskomen in Trix, Antwerpen.
En helemaal gek werd ik bij het horen van de eerste vooruitgeschoven single, Equus, en de bijhorende prachtige video, waarin alle elementen waarom ik zo van hen houd present zijn.
De draagkracht die bestaat uit de walsende bas en sprintende drums. De vaak gelijkertijd klinkende cleane vocals van Tim Charles en de dodelijke grunts van Marc "Xenoyr" Campbell in een track die weliswaar meer dan 12 minuten duurt maar geen seconde daarvan verveelt, integendeel, die je meeneemt op een duister avontuur. Bovendien horen we hier niet één vioolpartij maar wel twee. Tim krijgt hulp van ene Emma Charles wiens mooie verschijning de video ook siert.

Regarding the video's powerful yet sombre message, the band explains: "'Equus' is dedicated to the lives lost during the lethal bush fires that scarred Australia in 2019-2020. Alongside the people who died or were affected, many millions, if not billions, of animals were killed or displaced from their natural habitats, the enormity of this is something that will never be forgotten, and should not be ignored. It is also a warning that the world we live in is changing from the damage we as a species have contributed to. Within this video, the dancer represents a scorched Mother Earth, from horror to humanity, ever in tune with the heart and flow of the song (and world), and ultimately aware of the inevitable and ever growing destructive cycle we are in."
NE OBLIVISCARIS have previously announced a new European tour, together with PERSEFONE! The trek will kick off their 'Exul' EU/UK tour at the Tavastia venue in Helsinki (FI) on May 5 and sees the band traveling throughout 15 countries in the weeks to follow!
