Toen ik de woorden "Muse goes metal" online las, was ik direct geïnteresseerd. Maar gaat Muse daadwerkelijk het metal-genre ontdekken of is het een mislukt experiment? Oordeel zelf maar.
Op Tweede kerstdag (26 december) 2021 was Matt Bellamy, de frontzanger van Muse, op een Instagram Live te zien met zijn zoontje in de auto. Uit de speakers klonk een onbekend geluid en al gauw hadden fans door dat het een snipper was van een nieuwe Muse song, en de reacties waren overweldigend. Hier werd gezegd 'de band gaat terug naar zijn roots' terwijl de andere riep 'de heaviest sound van Muse tot nu toe'.
Eindelijk is het zover, ruim 3 jaar na het uitbrengen van hun laatste album Simulation Theory presenteert de band ons de single Won't Stand Down.

We’re likely to get in the studio next year to make a new album of some kind and then tour after that, depending on the travel restrictions.
“For us, 2020 was always going to be a year to contemplate being off work and off the road. Muse have never done that in the 20 odd years we’ve been going.”
In October, he revealed more about progress on the band’s next record. “I started writing when all the protests and all the chaos were kicking off,” he explained, referring to Black Lives Matter protests around the world in the summer of 2020.
“It’s a weird thing to say but it suits the music I write. It keeps you a little bit on edge.”
