On her choice to cover the Aerosmith classic, Miss Velvet shares "'Dream On' has always represented the epitome of a timeless ballad, forever shaping my world as a singer. Steven Tyler’s performance on this song changed my life as a singer. When I hear his voice, it transcends gender; it became for me a revelation. The band Aerosmith, the lyrics, his voice, and the melody solidified in me what music can make you feel on a guttural and spiritual level at the same time."
Dubbed the “Underground Velvet” by LA Weekly and now entering a new era of visibility and self, Miss Velvet blurs the lines between the roles of being a rock star, an artistic explorer, and a young mother – resulting in a potent rock escapade that’s both raw and multifaceted. With smashing urgency and a dedication to vibrant honesty, Miss Velvet’s music is not only a personal journey but a revelation of modern femininity as she refocuses the lens through which the world views women in rock music.
After moving from her native New York City to sunny Los Angeles, Miss Velvet connected with acclaimed rock producer Esjay Jones. The duo sparked a deep connection and explored themes of conditional and unconditional love, loss, and sex with a distinct focus on their shared love of classic rock music. Utilizing a respectful nod to that visceral, retro rock sound and fusing that energy with modern color, a forceful and earnest potency can be felt in every guitar riff and careening chorus of the album’s ten song journey – opening a portal for rock lovers and listeners across generations to find a home in the world the record creates. With smashing urgency and a dedication to vibrant honesty, Miss Velvet’s album is not only a personal journey but a revelation of modern femininity as she refocuses the lens through which the world views women in rock music.
No stranger to the stage, in recent years Miss Velvet has toured and performed in over 100 cities across 5 continents, including opening two world tours for the iconic George Clinton - who calls her voice “the definition of rock n roll.” George Clinton isn’t the only one singing Miss Velvet’s praises, with numerous music critics comparing her bold vocals and electrifying performances to the likes of Mick Jagger, Janis Joplin, and Robert Plant. Additionally, her previous releases (with her band, Miss Velvet & The Blue Wolf) have garnered two Top 20 hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart.
Miss Velvet’s presence is also felt heavily online where she has built a passionate and engaged following on social media, with hundreds of thousands of followers dialed in to her daily posts which shine an intimate light on not only her music and fashion but as well a glimpse into her private life as a mother of 2 young girls. Fast becoming a beacon for women transitioning from youth into adulthood and who maintain a fire for and connection to both, Miss Velvet demonstrates that the two do not have to be mutually exclusive and can in fact help accentuate the other.
