Get ready for Oizys, the newest single by Lost Baron. Oizys is slower, darker and filled with emotion. Soft, dreamy female vocals pull you in, only to be ripped apart by raw, harsh screams. It’s heavy in a whole new way - less about speed, more about feeling the weight of every note. The song captures the struggle of being trapped in your own mind, lost in loneliness and doubt. It builds, it breaks, and it leaves a mark. Oizys is something different, but still unmistakably Lost Baron.
In 2014 Lost Baron started out as a four-piece band: Jannick Verlinde (guitars-vocals), Bert Dewaele (guitars-vocals), Koen Huyghe (bass), Dieter Lafaut (drums). With a combined love for all things heavy, they started to create their unique approach to make a blend of stoner and metal. In 2015, this resulted in their first ‘Kelder EP’. This EP made their fanbase grow with stonerdudes as well as metalheads and gave them many local shows. The next EP ‘Bastard Blood’ was recorded and produced by Martin Furia (Destruction/Bark/…) and released in 2017.
Because of the wall of sound on this record and the more ‘metal’ approach, it was well received and gave Lost Baron many gigs, such as Roadkill Festival, Trix Concerts (Your Highness support, Godsmack aftershow), Fleddypalooza (Ancienne Belgique Brussels), Ieperfest, Antwerp Metal Fest… The gig at Fleddypalooza resulted in a videoclip for ’Color The Blind’ recorded live. In 2018, the videoclip for the song ‘Indifference’ was released. This song is not on the original ‘Bastard Blood EP’, but was later added to the cd version.
2022 marks a new beginning for Lost Baron, that is now a full-on three-piece metal monster containing of Jannick Verlinde (guitars-vocals), Bert Dewaele (bass-vocals) and Dieter Lafaut (drums).Their first full length "Dark Messiah", recorded and produced by Martin Furia, takes you on the journey with the ever evolving bastard king, caught in a psychotic torment with internal struggles and megalomania. The soundtrack to this is packed with dynamic riffs, psychotic vocals, dark and sinister with a hardcore attitude, nineties vibes and a little black metal sauce. Are you ready to meet the Dark Messiah?
The album was released digital and on cd in december 2022, but the vinyl release was postponed to March 2023 due to delays at the pressing plant. It was also the first time they went on stage with Thomas D’Hondt (Darqo) on Bass & Bert Dewaele back on guitar. They are now in recording mode and have prepared a handful of new songs that all will be released as singles by Polderrecords.
