Ik leerde hen kennen met de release van Boundless (20189) en was hen bij de opvolger uit 2020 terug kwijt. Black Shuck, als voorbode van nieuw materiaal dit jaar, spreekt me terug meer aan. Deze donkere, atmosferische compositie gaat van start als een soundtrack bij een film noir en rond het geheel op eenzelfde manier af, letterlijk met een 'bang'. Het middendeel is sterke post rock waarbij de ritmesectie het nummer een duw vooruit geeft en de gitaar er met veel gevoel doorheen speelt. De video? Helemaal film noir natuurlijk.
