Misschien heeft u dat ook al wel eens voorgehad ... omdat dancing-with-the-lift-you-up-got-talent rotzooi op televisie je voor geen reet interesseert zit je wat rond te struinen op YouTube. Af en toe kijk je eens naar de voorgestelde videos in de rechterkolom, je klikt er sommige open, meer uit verveling dan uit daadwerkelijke interesse ... en dan valt je bek open van verbazing.
Dat gevoel overkwam mij bij Redemption van Lari Basilio. Sh*t, wat kan deze dame mooi en goed gitaarspelen! Ik durf zonder overdrijven een vergelijking maken met David Gilmour. En let ook eens op haar muzikanten, hoe gedreven en professioneel die klinken. En als die bassist geen winterverblijf op de Noordpool heeft weet ik het ook niet meer.
Dit werd ons niet toegestuurd door een of ander promobureau of platenmaatschappij. Ik had nog nooit van deze dame gehoord (dat kan natuurlijk ook gewoon aan mijzelf liggen) en heb alles wat ik over haar wilde weten moeten opzoeken.
First things first ... Redemption is de titeltrack uit haar aankomende nieuwe album dat op 16 mei verschijnt. Dit najaar tourt Lari ook doorheen Europa, waarbij ze op 29 oktober in de Spirit of 66 in Verviers (BE) speelt en daags nadien in de Poppodium Boerderij in Zoetermeer (NL). Beide locaties zijn moeilijk bereikbaar voor mij maar misschien dat u wel de weg ernaartoe vindt.

Lari Basilio is a brazilian guitarist, songwriter and producer. She was considered by Guitar World Magazine "one of the most exciting names in instrumental rock".[1], and also described as "one of today's most tasteful guitar virtuosos".[2]
Basilio started her musical journey as a guitarist playing in bands and churches in Brazil. In 2011, she started her solo career, working on her instrumental five-song Extended Play (EP), named, simply, Lari Basilio, which features Felipe Andreoli, bass player of Angra. The EP was produced by the five-time Latin Grammy winner Lampadinha.
Lari’s upcoming album was recorded at EastWest Studios, Los Angeles, and will be released early 2025.
Lari Basilio was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She was raised and remains Protestant Christian.
At the age of 4 she started studying organ. As a young child, Lari was influenced by her father, who was always playing organ and acoustic guitar around the house, which stimulated her interest in music.
At the age of 8 her father taught her first chords on an acoustic guitar. That's when she fell in love with the instrument.
When she was a teenager, she started to get private guitar lessons with some guitar teachers from São Paulo. One of them was a well-know jazz guitarist in Brazil, Djalma Lima.
In 2010, Lari graduated from law school, at Universidade São Judas Tadeu in São Paulo, Brazil and got her professional license at the brazilian attorneys association (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil). Lari worked as a lawyer for about 1 year until she decided to stop the law career to pursue her music career.
