Dacht je dat Dragonforce al belachelijk snelle powermetal maakte waar niks of niemand overheen kon? Wel, heb ik even nieuws voor jou. Power of the Saberblade is het snelste nummer dat de band ooit geschreven heeft en niet gewoon omdat het kan. Deze track is ook zo snel gemaakt omdat hij geschreven is voor het spel Beat Saber. Ik verwacht me dan al aan een hele reeks filmpjes van gefrustreerde mensen die zich gaan bezig houden met deze tot een goed einde te brengen. Power of the Saberblade is dus belachelijk snel en intens, maar gaat qua klank wel meer in de richting van de oudere Dragonforce nummers. Dat is nu dus net datgene wat me er in aanspreekt. In tegenstelling tot de twee vorige singles van hun aankomende album (Warp Speed Warriors), heeft deze mij dus wél weten te overtuigen. Al moet ik toegeven dat ik na enkele luisterbeurten wel een lichte hoofdpijn gewaar begin te worden.
Neemt niet weg dat het enorm indrukwekkend is om zo snel te kunnen spelen, zo snel en hoog te kunnen zingen en het nog steeds als muziek te laten klinken, in plaats van een hoop op elkaar geknalde noten. Ik ben in elk geval heel benieuwd waar hun aankomende album verder naartoe zal gaan qua stijl.

“Power of the Saber Blade” is part of the sixth installation of the Original Soundtrack, affectionately known as OST, which is a free release for all players. OST 6 will feature four songs, including other high-profile artists such as Lindsey Stirling, Camellia, and Far Out. All songs were exclusively composed for Beat Saber and will be world-wide premieres. DRAGONFORCE has been a community request for a long time, so the Beat Games team is honored to have a completely original song by them in Beat Saber.
