LOL! Nu moest ik toch eens goed lachen en een vette glimlach blijft mijn tronie sieren. Waarom? Wel, ik ben absoluut niet iemand die achterom kijkt en blijft vertoeven in het verleden, zo van 'In mijnen tijd was het allemaal beter!'. Dus heb ik ook bitter weinig met bands die nu nog uitpakken met NWOBHM/speed/thrash etc. Gewoonlijk klinken die bands alsof ze in die tijd zijn blijven steken, of erger nog, duiken bands die toen al niet boven de middelmaat uitkwamen her en der terug op met muziek die niet eens aan hun 'hoogdagen' kan tippen. Valley Of The Ravens echter klinkt als Savatage in haar hoodagen (jaren '80) en dat wil toch iets zeggen. De hele sound ademt 'retro', maar voldoet aan de huidige (productionele) normen. Mystifier (zie hieronder) klinkt dan weer deels als Savatage die op een radiohit mikken en we weten allemaal hoe dat is uitgedraaid. Hoedanook ben ik benieuwd naar hun derde full album. “The goal on this one was to make a classic sounding rock and heavy metal record, but filter it through the Bewitcher lens. It’s more personal and observational in certain spots, but with all the pleasures of flesh, magic, and sin that one could ever expect from Bewitcher.”

Formed in 2013 as a duo, M. Von Bewitcher and A. Magus pumped out a handful of Bewitcher demo tapes that stormed the underground with blasphemous and raw speed metal. In 2016, after rounding things out with a live drummer, Bewitcher released their self-titled full length debut (recorded and mixed by Joel Grind), and followed it with Under The Witching Cross in 2019. No strangers to the road, Bewitcher has toured hard all across North America and Europe supporting such acts as Visigoth, Savage Master, and Holy Grail.
