Zou ik deze muzikante als standaard beschouwen en nooit nog iets brengen dat niet op z'n minst - muzikaal en vocaal - even sterk is of me even hard raakt, dan publiceerde ik hier nog weinig nieuwe muziek vrees ik. Na het stevige Black Myself krijgen we nu een iets meer ingetogen tweede song uit het nieuwe album.

“Wild Turkey” recounts the aftermath of her mother’s drowning in the Tennessee River as well as Kiah’s journey from angry denial to heavy-hearted acceptance. “For a long time, I didn’t understand that when people commit suicide, it’s because they believe the world will be better off without them. I thought my mom did it because she didn’t really love or care about me and my dad, and I interpreted that as being abandoned. Writing this song was a way to make amends with what happened and to recognize that numbing myself wouldn’t work for me in the long run.” - AK
