The River Jazz Festival has taken place in three different spectacular venues in Brussels during March, which were Marni, where the first night took place with Thomas Leleu (LINK), Le Senghor and the Jazz Station. But one date that was not to be missed of this festival, was The Night. A unique evening happening last Saturday with a center piece being the talented trumpetist Jean-Paul Estiévenart and his triple carte blanche, taking the stage of these three same venues that have hosted the festival, all on the same night. Yes, you read well, three concerts happening one after the other in these beautiful venues, to witness three exceptional performances. Starting at around 18.15, Jean-Paul Estiévenart invited the Dutch Quartet to the Jazz Station stage for the evening to start. It was followed by a more intimate duo setting with Portuguese accordionist Joao Barradas on the Senghor stage at 19:45. On this occasion, Estiévenart was performing some pieces with Spanish influence, from his time in the Canary Islands, that personally took me back there, to my culture and to places I’ve already visited myself. The grand ending was a majestic Swing party at Marni Bar that started at 21.15 and went on until the shy swing dancers finally took the floor.
