Botanique witnessed a special evening of Belgian rock / pop. Continuing a long career for Belgian musician Gordon Vøfsnfjorden Delacroix, his new project Recorders proves the musical and personal spark is still alive. Taking advantage of the wonderful scenery at Botanique, the band shone with its contemporary take on indie rock anthems. Recorders is clearly an amazing fit, and the good vibes between the band extend to the audience. Their charismatic and down-to-earth attitude created a very real connection with the audience, with oddities like playing with lightsabers becoming a natural part of the concert experience. As many indie bands, their musical project is also paired with a touch of fashion, further strengthening their on-stage presence.
During the opening act, solo singer-guitar player Jen enthralled the audience into her highly atmospheric take on pop music. Her fantastic voice is certainly the main character in her project that also featured a lively guitar, cello but surprisingly no percussion. Jen certainly captured everyone’s attention with her beautiful voice and wonderful mise en scene centred around her dramatic white dress.
