Last Monday I went back to the beautiful Cirque Royal in Brussels to attend the concert of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. It already took me several trials to be able to pronounce the name and memorise it!
When I arrived at the venue, and after a confusing start regarding a photo pit/security barrier that could not be used by the photographers, I enjoyed the supporting band, Los Bitchos, playing before the KG&TLW, 4 girls from London who warmed up and conquered the audience with their latin cumbia vibes and who brought the energy up for the next act. Small surprise for the audience, during their last song Stu Mackenzie, Mr. Gizzard himself, joined the band on stage with his flute.
After my first experience some weeks ago at a metal concert and mosh pits, I have to say that I loved their projected message on how to be respectful at all times while being in the mosh pits, as they should be enjoyed by people from all ages. Right on time, the Australians King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard went on stage, and we were also finally allowed in the crowded pit full with more than 7 photographers trying to catch the electric energy of the group, together with their vivid visuals and lighting for one of the greatest mise en scene I’ve seen. With their big number of albums on their discography, the band gave the audience an extensive performance, even mingling with the crowd.
