If you’ve read some of my reviews you will already know that I really like Le Botanique as a concert venue, and I try to attend a lot of concerts happening at the Rotonde. But tonight it was the first time I went to the Witloof bar, located downstairs, either as a photographer and as part of the audience. The venue is a vaulted kind of cellar, and the name literally means in Dutch “white leave”, as to refer to the endive or chicory.
The artist on stage tonight was Kate Davis and her band. From that 2014 cover of Meghan Trainor’s song that draw too much inappropriate attention to her, she now shines on stage singing deeply personal songs, some from her newest album released earlier this year, together with some older ones, mixing up catchy hits that made me dance, which I love while I’m taking pictures of a concert (I mean, who doesn’t like to have fun while working), with super sweet slower songs that sugarcoated the evening and made me feel as if I was listening to the sweetest lullaby.
