So much for the 30 year plan ... dat was de titel waarmee de Ierse band Therapy? in 2020 hun 30e verjaardag zouden vieren. Een jubileum waarvan Andy Cairns en Michael McKeegan zelf waarschijnlijk de laatsten zouden zijn geweest om te verwachten dat ze die zouden vieren toen ze in 1989 in Noord-Ierland hun bandje oprichten. Hun grootste schare fans wonnen ze in de jaren negentig maar veel van die fans bleef de band ook nadien trouw volgen en steunen. En zo komen we dus aan 30 jaar Therapy?
Begin 2020 verscheen de compilatie Greatest Hits (The Abbey Road Session), via Marshall Records, waarop een aantal van hun grootste hits en beste nummers opnieuw werden opgenomen. Een mooi eerbetoon aan hun eigen carrière waarop te horen is dat de nummers samen met hun schrijvers volwassen zijn geworden.
Door de covid pandemie moest het concert, dat oorspronkelijk gepland stond voor April 2020, een aantal keer verplaatst worden. Maar zelfs dat beestje krijgt onze Ierse veteranen er niet onder. En dus komen we elkaar op 24 mei tegen in de AB. De meeste onder ons hebben ondertussen al iets minder haar dan 30 jaar geleden maar we kunnen nog steeds als de beste meebrullen met songs als Going Nowhere, Teethgrinder of Diane.
