Soms worden er - op albumgebied - pareltjes uitgebracht. Die kun je dan gewoon tijden lang luisteren, terwijl je vergeet om van de daken te schreeuwen hoe goed dit eigenlijk is. Dan moet dat later worden rechtgezet. Bij dezen, dus....
Begin oktober heeft de Gelderse band Suspect Hostile hun debuut The Nameless uitgebracht en sindsdien komen ze met regelmaat op mijn airpods voorbij. De vijf mannen maken old school death metal. Gewoon recht-in-je-smoel-snoeiharde-muziek. Het is geen club jonge honden en ook dat is te horen. De ervaring die ze allemaal meebrengen, klinkt in ieder nummer door.
Vanaf het moment van aftrap met Mental Decay, zit er een lekkere cadans in waarin gitaar en drums elkaar eerst afwisselen, maar vervolgens een lekker samenspel neerzetten waar overheen vocalist Justin ook direct laat zien dat zijn strot niet voor een kleintje vervaard is. De toon van The Nameless is gezet.
Vermeldenswaardig is nog het prachtige contrast tussen een relatief rustig nummer als Shellhole, waarbij de donkere, diepe krochten van het oorlogsgeweld - een rode draad van het album - bijna voelbaar zijn, en een nummer als The Nameless, dat als mitrailleurgeweld over je heen schiet.
The Nameless is een heerlijk album in z'n algemeenheid, maar als debuut is het iets om éxtra trots op te zijn.

Out of the ashes from a few death/thrash/punk bands, all mainly situated in the east of Holland, Suspect Hostile was established at the end of 2018, with as prime goal to make our own music as we like it. As we all have different background styles within Suspect Hostile, we have developed a own blend of styles that combines all interests in the band. Our style can best be described as death metal foundation with a twist of punk, crust and hardcore. In July 2022 our 4 track EP was launched on Spotify and YouTube. First live gig was also done in July 2022, since then we have done a number of gigs throughout Holland and one in Germany. In between the gigs we are writing new material, working towards our first full length album.
Since then we done a good number of shows throughout Holland and Germany. In between new material was composed, during the spring of 2023 we selected the tracks that we wanted on our first full length album. In June 2023 our debut full length album "The Nameless" was recorded in the White Noise recording studio in Winterswijk Holland. The skilled hands of Marlon Wolterink did the job managing the recordings as well as the mixing and mastering. This was followed up with a good conversation with Brutal Insanity Records, artwork (Rottedartist) and layout (Japie Knockout) were done. Plans were made and 11/10 2023 The Nameless was there for real, followed up with a presentation show at Harnbarg Metal Fest 14/10 2023.
