Toen Nickelback een nieuw album aankondigde, was ik niet helemaal zeker of ik er iets mee zou gaan doen. Ik bedoel... Het is hier wel mijn credibility als muziek recensent die ik op het spel zet door deze mannen wat aandacht te geven hé! All jokes aside, na het horen van het stevige San Quentin wisten deze Canadezen me toch weer te overtuigen van hun muziek.
Dit nieuwste album brengt mij meteen een jaar of tien terug in de tijd. Naar mijn puberjaren, toen ik nog geen besef had van het feit dat Nickelback de meest gehate rockband ter wereld is en toen Photograph nog geen meme was. Toen mijn leven er op zijn zachtst gezegd vrij somber uitzag en toen ik het belang van muziek begon te ontdekken. In die tijd was ik dan ook echt een sucker voor de softere Nickelback tracks, blijkt nu dat er niet zo heel veel veranderd is in al die jaren. Mijn favoriete nummer van Get Rollin' is dan ook het super melige Does Heaven Even Know You're Missing. Het klink dan wel als een van 's werelds slechtste openingszinnen aller tijden, maar serieus, ik SMELT voor dat nummer!
Eigenlijk krijg je hier gewoon een standaard Nickelback album voorgeschoteld; hier en daar een stevig nummertje, een paar melige tracks er tussen en een aantal nummers die niet zo heel speciaal zijn, maar wel goed klinken. Get Rollin' is dan ook geen album dat mij omver heeft weten blazen, maar het is wel aangename muziek om naar te luisteren of om mee rond te cruisen in de auto. Het is nu wel zo dat, hoe vaker ik dit album beluister, hoe leuker het gaat klinken. Ik kan je garanderen dat grote fans van Nickelback heel blij zullen zijn met deze release omdat dit perfect in het muzikale repertoire van de band past.
