Fans van de Laurel Canyon sound uit de jaren zeventig kennen deze prachtige dame of moeten haar dringend leren kennen. Met haar krachtige, soulvolle stem brengt Maggie Rose zowel donkere als meer opbeurende songs die diverse thema's als relaties, ouder worden, emancipatie en leven in het moment. Op dit vierde full album laat ze vlotjes genres als pop, rock, soul en folk aan bod komen.
Zelf leerde ik haar in 2021 kennen, maar raakte haar om één of andere reden kwijt. Eind 2023 hoorde ik dan de single Underestimate Me voorbijkomen en wist meteen dat ik vanaf dan beter zou moeten opletten. Dat nummer ademde soul en blues met een funky gospel sausje overgoten. Een paar maanden later bevestigde ze die klasse met het titelnummer van haar aankomende album: Carole King en James Taylor mogen fier zijn op deze nalatenschap. Twaalf nummers lang weet Rose te charmeren en ontroeren. No One Gets Out Alive mag je zonder twijfel aan je collectie toevoegen.

To celebrate the new project, Rose has filmed a series of live performance videos, dubbed, “Live From the Caverns,” filmed at Tennessee's The Caverns, a world-renowned destination for live music in a beautiful natural setting above and below ground. Rose assembled a dream team for the album including GRAMMY-Award winning producer Ben Tanner, GRAMMY-nominated audio engineer Bobby Holland, and conductor Don Hart (Phish, Lyle Lovett) who oversaw the arrangements and lush strings. The players include guitarist Sadler Vaden and drummer Chad Gamble from Jason Isbell's 400 Unit, keyboardist Peter Levin (Amanda Shires, Gregg Allman), bassist Zac Cockrell (Alabama Shakes) and keyboardist Kaitlyn Connor and guitarist Kyle Lewis from Rose's own band.
Working with a tight-knit circle of writers, Rose leaned into her vulnerability and brought her concepts to an ultra-talented group of collaborators who helped bring the songs to fruition. Songwriters include the heavyweight duo of Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony (Miley Cyrus, Rihanna), Natalie Hemby (The Highwomen), Chris Gelbuda (Meghan Trainor), Pat McLaughlin (John Prine), Cliff Audretch (Hootie & The Blowfish), Henry Brill (Joy Oladokun), Charlotte Sands (JORDY), Jon Santana (Sid Tipton), Sunny Sweeney, and Kaitlyn Connor and Kyle Lewis from her band.
A respected fixture of the Nashville community, Rose has played the iconic Grand Ole Opry over 100 times and marquee festivals including Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, and Newport Folk Fest. A true road warrior, she has shared the stage with the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Heart, Joan Jett, Eric Church, Gov't Mule, The Mavericks, Fitz & The Tantrums, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, and The Revivalists to name a few.
