Dit is het perfecte voorbeeld voor wonderen in een pandemie. De band begon vorig jaar in april en brengt nu al hun eerste album uit. En hun slogan, 'van Death Metal fans voor Death Metal fans', maken ze zeker waar.
Het album is een wervelwind waar je in stapt, zeer heftig en somber. The Silence Of Death en Echoes Among The Tombstones zetten voor mij de toon. De nummers geven alle kracht weer die Crummer bezit. De drums begeleiden de vocals perfect. Het doet mij ergens denken aan Cannibal Corpse en Obituary. Vanaf deze nummers wordt het verdere album een geweldige ervaring. Bij de andere tracks worden de drums meer bijgestaan door het stevige gitaarwerk en dit maakt Deathwards des te beter. De sombere teksten worden ondergedompeld in een heftige deathmetalsound waar we van houden.
Het Spaanse Crummer heeft laten zien waartoe ze in staat is en dat op één jaar. Op nationaal niveau groeien ze snel en ik verwacht dat ze binnen afzienbare tijd ook heel Europa inpalmen. Ik kijk alvast hard uit naar meer van die heftige death metal die er nog aan komt van Crummer.

Crummer is an old school death metal band formed in Asturias, Spain in April 2020. The line-up consisting of Abel Suárez and Gonzalo “Lalo” Glez, both musicians in Cathexia. Also, Lalo plays in the veteran band called Legacy of Brutality.
Abel and Lalo are professionally linked to the art and culture. Abel is a tattoo artist and illustrator and Lalo is a producer and sound technician. The situation generated by Covid-19, their concerns and their love for the more traditional death metal pushed them to create their debut album entitled “Deathwards”, an album that pays tribute to all the death metal bands they have venerated more than twenty years.
“Deathwards” consists of ten tracks with a duration of thirty-seven minutes and immerses the listener in the most primitive essence of the death metal genre, into a world of loneliness and death.
It is made entirely by both members of the band, composition, recording, production, art and design. And it also features three great guitar solos by Borja Suárez (Legacy of Brutality). It is an album made with no intention other than to make death metal fans enjoy another release of this genre, just as the members of Crummer enjoy many current and old death metal bands. Made by death metal fans for death metal fans.

The name and logo of the band was taken from the original project formed by Abel and his brothers in the mid-nineties. They recorded some demos on cassette that were never officially released.
