Op 3 september kwam de driekoppige formatie AURI met hun nieuwe album
II - Those we don't speak of. AURI is voor de leden een creatieve uitlaadklep die zich niet laat drukken in een vakje. De combinatie van verschillende muziekstijlen maken het ook moeilijk definieerbaar. Maar als het dan toch een naam moet hebben, kan het omschreven worden als een droomreis door mythen en oude verhalen begeleid door atmosferische folk.
Het album II - Those we don't speak of, luistert echt heel lekker weg. Het is vijftig minuten totale ontspannen en genot. Er is geen nummer dat er ineens uit springt en het hele gevoel anders maakt. Er zijn geen afwijkende tonen of geluiden die op den duur gaan irriteren. Nee, het hele album is een fijne samenwerking van sang en instrumenten.
Het nummer dat mij wel opvalt is Pearl Diving. De melodie en het gevoel van dit nummer brengt iets vrolijks, iets heel fijns. Eigenlijk voelt het nummer een beetje als een zonnige lenteochtend.
Bij het nummer Kiss the Mountain is zelfs een video uitgebracht als visuele begeleiding om je echt het gevoel van het nummer te geven. Zowel het nummer als de korte videoclip zijn prachtig en helpen je echt de droom van het album in te beelden.

Originally born in 2011 from the special connection of Johanna Kurkela, Tuomas Holopainen and Troy Donockley, AURI was first introduced to the world as late as 2018. Now complemented by the dynamic percussive talents of Kai Hahto, the threesome carves fantastical worlds entirely their own.

Leaning to Celtic folk and cinematic pop yet not shackled by any specific genre, AURI isn’t the kind of music that can be described by words alone. No, an equal effort of the enchanted three, AURI runs a lane of completely their own. Unburdened by anyone’s expectations but their own. This is the sort of music that taps directly into emotions.
