Het gebeurt zelden dat een nieuwe band mij zo omver weet te blazen. All For Metal aan de andere kant, had mij met hun stevige heavy metal sound en geweldig hoge vocals meteen te pakken. Er was dan ook niet veel meer nodig dan die eerste, gelijknamige single om mij te overtuigen dit album te reviewen. Ik denk dat ik ondertussen bijna elk nummer vanbuiten ken, dus je kan wel stellen dat ik hier geen spijt van heb. Al moet je er natuurlijk ook wel rekening mee houden dat meer dan de helft van de tracks al eerder werd gereleased als single.
Ook de nieuwe nummers wisten stuk voor stuk meteen mijn aandacht te trekken. Ze hebben dan ook elk een hoog meezinggehalte. Hear The Drum en Run zijn hier perfecte voorbeelden van. Verder is het hele album goed gevuld met epische solo's, af en toe wat folk-invloeden, een leuke wisselwerking tussen beide vocalists, maar vooral... Die absurde stem van Antonio Calanna. De hoogte die hij moeiteloos haalt, de subtiele distortion die er af en toe in verwerkt zit, die stevige powerscreams,... bangelijk gewoon! Ook krijgt het nummer Mountain Of Power een volledige intro onder de naam Prophecy Of Hope, zodat je ineens mee bent met de geheel legitieme geschiedenis die hierachter schuil gaat.
Deze Mountain Of Power behoort trouwens tot mijn favorieten van het album. Een andere is Born In Valhalla, maar mijn absolute nummer een is Fury Of The Gods. Die melodie is gewoon superleuk, zowel in de intro, bridge als het refrein. Meteen al vanaf die intro, met zijn zacht woah-oh-oh klanken, ben ik helemaal mee. Al heeft het iets zwaardere The Day Of Hammerfall ook zeker wel iets speciaals. Deze is net iets anders dan de rest van het album en weet dan weer om die reden mijn aandacht te trekken. De intro van dat nummer doet me zelfs een beetje aan Nightwish denken. Afsluiter Legends Never Die weet dan tot slot nog een gevoelige snaar te raken en geeft een mooi einde aan dit stevige album.
Al bij al is dit dus gewoon een geweldig debuutalbum. Fans van heavymetal zullen dit zeker en vast kunnen smaken en ik heb er ineens een nieuwe favoriete band bij. Ik kan dan ook niet anders dan uitkijken naar hun aankomende liveshows als voorprogramma van Wind Rose (stiekem ga ik dan ook vooral voor het voorprogramma).

When the mission is so clear, one can - no MUST - express this unmistakably. And so, under the banner of ALL FOR METAL, the metal enthusiasts Tim "Tetzel" Schmidt (known as the singer of the band Asenblut as well as a strength athlete and fitness influencer) and Antonio Calanna (former singer of the hard rock band DeVicious) join forces. Both are united by their love for classic heavy metal sounds and the common vision to bring them to a new generation of music fans. With great, compact, catchy songs and a dedicated, highly professional production team behind them, ALL FOR METAL unleash anthemic, straightforward metal that has international class.
"We grew up with bands like Manowar, at whose concerts the audience is overwhelmed by the energy," says singer Tetzel. "That's where strangers are in each other's arms and fervently belting out the songs. This invisible bond, this connection, is created through the music alone." His vocal counterpart Antonio adds, "I've only experienced such a sense of community in the metal scene. With ALL FOR METAL, we want to help pass this on and let as many music fans as possible enjoy it."
Right away, the first jointly pre-produced song "All For Metal" (introduced in proper style by heavy anvil strikes) with its pounding rhythm, catchy guitar riffs and earworm refrain, is a real hit. Not coincidentally, the lyric line "It's all for Metal - and Metal for all" evokes a cohesion here that unites across ages and genders.
Euphorized by this early songwriting success, another number was subsequently created with "Born In Valhalla", which is no less impressive. In the third song "Thor Raise The Hammer" folky echoes mix into the catchy heavy metal sound. Unifying element here again: The great chorus - perfectly staged by the experienced producer Hardy Krech (Elephant Music Flensburg; Kissin' Dynamite, Beyond The Black, among others).
It is already clear: Antonio's powerful melodic metal clear vocals and Tetzel's rather rough organ harmonize perfectly with each other and give this promising new band that certain something. The muscular giant Tetzel and the charismatic Antonio are supported by Ursula Zanichelli and Jasmin Pabst at the guitars, Florian Toma at the bass and Leif Jensen on Drums
